Summer Hues

My month long hiatus from blogging ends today. The past month has really been a roller coaster ride for me, family coming and go, school days ended for my lil sister and summer vacation for everyone except well, for me. Another busy season for us since Annual ITR deadlines, a week from now, is now coming.

But as I have a few days of break from work, I am sick in bed, dealing with a really bad throat matching with cough and colds. I do feel lucky enough that my fever this morning is now gone. It must be the sudden change in weather that made my immune system weak. So, I'll prolly be staying in bed for the rest of the weekend for me to feel up and about for work this coming Monday.

And as I stay in bed, I want to be productive, too, by composing a post for the opening of another summer season. I know it has started weeks ago with the extreme sunny weather, that temperature rises up by the hour but it just feels like the summer for me starts after Easter.

According to Pantone, the Spring/Summer colors for 2015 is more of cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. Understated brights, pastel hues and nature-like neutrals would set the center stage for this years color wheel spotlight.

And so, I joined in the summer color fun in the said Spring/Summer 2015 trends.

Tropical prints are our summer prints to go along with nautical stripes, bright florals and flashing neons this season. As for me, I'll prolly be sporting my first love which are pastel hues and neutrals for this year's summer or should I say, for almost the whole year round. Since, Philippines a tropical country has more summer days compared to rainy days. Although we are facing another tropical depression this very day. Praying for every one's safety especially to our kababayans in the northern part of Luzon.

One must notice how I've been sticking to wearing trousers or anything not exposing a large part of my legs. You see, after visiting the hot spring resort, I again got a hold of the sand flies that gave me icky looking bites. They're that horrible that I had to sport capri pants, jeans, midi skirts and maxi skirts for the whole summer.

The story of this ensemble though is all about dressing for comfort. A breathable sleeveless top which is one of my Aunt's hand me down clothes. I paired it with a capri pants in green. The clue in pairing printed tops with colored bottom is choosing a color that is already present in the print for complementing purposes. You don't want to wear crashing colors that would be an eyesore to everyone.

To top it all off, I used my already overused pair of glitter oxfords. I'm actually in a search for a new pair of oxfords that I could pair with my wardrobe like this one. If you know where I could get one, comment down below. Back to the outfit, I also used the classic leather sling bag that I could fill every essentials I need.

As for accessorizing, barely there accessories like this translucent bead necklace is just one key pieces for me not just to feel comfy with my finish ensemble but also to look comfortable. Don't you love the shine finish effect this necklace gave? Also, I used a chain bracelet in mint green and just my everyday also translucent looking watch.

I am really happy that it is once again summer where you have an excuse to wear beach laid back outfits to the mall or even when meeting with friends. This year's color trends are very much wearable all year round. You just have to match the right key pieces in order to still look put together. Also, it does't matter if you follow the trend or not, the more important note for dressing up is dressing for yourself.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it.

Wake Up Call

Time and time again, when something really good happens to me, I pinch myself to know if every blessing I've been receiving is happening for real. Everyone who knows me well already figured out how my imagination goes on, and on, and on. And how pessimistic I am, when I expect for the worst for me to feel better when good things happen instead. It's a bad habit of mine that I apparently need to correct. ASAP

I've been thinking a lot lately and realized a lot of things which explains how melodramatic I get with my posts. (Sorry in advance.) Today will be just a start that there will be no backing down, no more looking back, no more to negativity. This morning upon stumbling on The Good Quote (@thegoodquote) on instagram, I've read a lot of things concerning this. That we should always focus on the good one's and let go of the negative. Things we should remember when we're in the rough.

Besides from reading such quotations, we should also consider dressing comfortably without sacrificing style of course in order for us to spread positivity just like this ootd of mine on Christmas day reunion with fam. I never get tired of this, another dramatic entrance for this outfit post.

Now about this ensemble, I know that origami skorts have been a trend last year and so or overlapping skirts just like this one from Ripples by Jenny. I paired it with this fresh looking lace top in teal from Black Sheep.

I swore I just finished using a curling iron to make my hair look put together and I dismally fail doing so. Haha! An hour with that hot rod was no worth it. Good thing it was windy then, everyone did not noticed how messy my hair was.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it.

Jacket On

As the rain pours that literally washes away our worries from the heat of the sun, it also gives this cozy vibe to stay at home, enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee while catching up with your fave tv series you’ve missed while at school or work, or start to read a new book everyone’s been raving about or even have a movie marathon of the Harry Potter Series. Oh gloomy days like this, it makes me want to regret that I was only able to enjoy summer for less than a week. Sigh.

But despite of this, I still feel very blessed that I get to visit places and will get to visit places I want to go to. A few months ago, we've went back to the beautiful city of Baguio to visit my one week old niece. Yes. I now have a niece, a really pretty one.

I told you guys we'd be going back and forth to Baguio. Anyway, we just went for a short visit and the rain was pouring the whole time, so we weren't able to enjoy the outdoors. But we still had so much fun.

For my outfit on our free day, I know I've said that I swore not to wear a skirt to this city but I expected that it would be sunny but it wasn't and it's the only thing I've brought since we were travelling light. I didn't regret it though. It kept me warm throughout our indoor stay.

I wore denim on denim. It wasn't that of a risk though since it was a completely different shade that the skirt is a printed denim. Underneath my jacket is the long sleeve peek-a-boo top from Ripples by Jenny. Then, I wore my summer sandals from Forever 21, who knew it would still look appropriate with the look. I gave my fave and overused nude sandals a break hence, I've used these pair instead. It is definitely one of the comfiest pairs I have.

This is now the part where I dump you guys with photos during our stay there. To what bloggers call it, behold another photo diary, Baguio short visit edition. Scroll away!

Me with annoyed niece. Hahaha

Look how adorable she looks.

Summer Ender

Cover Up: Thrifted, Top: Koreana Shop, Shorts: Diversify by Pam, Bag: Mango and Shoes: Forever21

This post marks the last of my sunny adventures last summer hence the title, Summer Ender. I was a bit burnt out from the Calaguas trip the weekend before this outing but being someone who doesn’t want to miss out sharing moments with my colleagues outside the office, I still gave it a go. We went to the ever so famous Pasacao, the only beach stop I knew when I was little. We spent a night there and went on a boat ride in the morning to the Daruanak Island.

I have this thing when I always don’t get the memo on what my friends identically wear. So for the next summer I got myself a cover up that I forgot to bring for the Calaguas trip. So when I found out that we will have an office outing, I made sure to make use of it. I also have this floral corset swimwear top that matches this floral shorts of mine so I paired them with each other, added this neon pink cover up and I was good to go. I was also able to use my new addition to my love for flats and sandals that I got from Forever 21.

Wash Day

Another new school year has opened and so is another year that I passed up on going back to school. It's not that I really need to, I just have this feeling that I will want to go back to school. But since I'm still enjoying my spare time from work I'd like to share to you guys ootds that can be useful for school days especially on ordinary wash days.

For this post I've compiled three different looks. Classic or laid-back, experimental and rock star.

If you read my back to school post last year, you should have known that I am not a big fan of wearing uniforms, especially our college uniform. That's why in college I usually go to school not wearing one. As much I want to stick to the rules and be a goody good girl, I tried to wear school appropriate clothes so I won't be easily noticed by our professors.  And it did work, based on experience that I was able to graduate even when I seldom wore my uniform especially on my last three years I've spent at school.

I've chose three looks that I would actually wear at school that is both comfy, stylish and school-friendly.

Top: Forever 21, Jeans: Thrifted and Shoes: CLN

During lazy school days, no one will ever get wrong with shirt + jeans + flats combo. It was my favorite go-to back in my college days. But there would be days that I would like to look simple with an add-on confidence, I like trading my flats for a nice comfy pair of wedges or heels. Also, I want to keep my accessories simple by an arm candy and a nice statement necklace. I wasn't wearing a watch in the picture above but I must say every student needs to wear one.

Top: Frou Frou, Pants: SM GTW Betty, and Shoes: CLN

At times when I feel a little lost inside, stressed from school work, I take it all out by experimenting with my style for school. One example of this is mixing odd stuff like prints and stripes. It's a bonus if it totally works and not getting that weird stares.

Top: Local Dept.Store, Vest: Tiangge, Jeans: Penshoppe and Shoes: Vans

I don't usually go for the rockstar-ish look but what can I say, they're one of the comfiest and stylish clothes. This look is perfect for a rainy school day where the vest is not too warm for school unlike wearing jackets. But even with this look, you could still see the girly side of me. I can't help it. It's my signature style, pastel and feminine look this time with an added twist though.

For additional tips, I usually carry a small looking bag that you can fit a kitchen sink inside. Hahaha. What I mean you can carry lots of stuff with. It's to hassle to carry a small bag where there would be a 90% chance of leaving a thing or two behind that you really need for your schoolwork. Also,  invest on a comfy pair of shoes. It doesn't matter how much it costs or what brand name it is, as long as you've already proven and tested that it's comfy enough to last you for at least 8 hours and has a life span of at least 5 months. I must say for the ladies that you should also have this small pouch for your mini first aid kits like band aids and meds for pain relief and headache. It's nice that the school clinic is around but it's better to have your own.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my looks here, here and here.

OOTD: Nins' Recognition Rites

Time flies soo fast, our youngest brother, Nins, has now graduated from high school and is now going to college. In five years time, we'll now have another engineer in the family. And a highlight of his years in high school is the recognition rites that happened 2 months ago the morning of the graduation. As this is a special day for my brother, I wore something extra special, too.

Dress (used as top): Local Dept. Store, Skirt: SM Dept. Store
Necklace: Forever 21, Shoes: CLN

Since it was a day event, I opted for colors white, blue and yellow for the scheme of my ensemble. I've combined two of my favorites; floral and lace. Oh how I loved this ensemble. I was also the photographer that day and this ensemble helped me move around, a lot.

The top I used is actually a dress. Something I got lucky, I got a hold of. If the store I bought it with has more colors of it, I would have got it in other colors. I've paired it with this lace skirt, accessorized it in yellow. Like, this belt, necklace and even my sandals. I looked oh so summer ready.

I soo love this ensemble, I have more than enough pictures I can't let go of. Hence, this triplet-almost-identical pictures above. Hahaha

I promise. This is the last of it. Hahaha. Also, I would like to thank my brother, Kuya Mikey, for taking my outfit pictures. If he's at home whenever I take my outfit pictures, I'll definitely ask him to take them for me again. That's how happy I am with the results of the pictures.

Now, I leave you guys with pictures after the event. Scroll away.

Floral + Neon

Who knew floral and neon would actually work together? Well, who ever came up with this top of mine prolly knew he/she made a masterpiece. There's no surprise there though. In the crazy of world of fashion full of talented and creative designers, no doubt, anyone could come up with odd combinations and make it work.

I used to shy away from all things bright and odd that gives me weird stares. But as I grew to explore new things I decided that it doesn't matter what others think as long as I made it work for myself, I'll always give it a go.

Some people think keeping up with trends make them standout, but I actually believe that we keep up with trends in order to blend in. From the word "trend" itself, that means known and adopted by many. We could still standout even when trying trends through making it our own. Adding personal touches is what makes people standout. Believe me, in a world with billions of people on earth, there's no one and the same. Even identical twins have differences. Makes sense?

Before this post end up as a novel, let me share to you guys what I've worn last Sunday for a fiesta lunch/get together with my relatives. I know the festivities in Naga is now over but I can't help to feel all festive-y with this post with this ensemble.

If you follow me on twitter (@genbibanne) *Naks! Shameless plug*, I tweeted about Mom giving me this floral + neon top that I got excited. Could you blame me? Just look at it.

Top: Gift from Mom, Shorts: Tiangge, Shoes: Primadonna

I've worn it with neutrals such as a white high-waist pair of shorts and my nude open toe sandals from Primadonna. I kept it simple to give highlight to the top. When it comes to the accessories, I gave a hint of gold to keep things classy.

Bag: Dooney and Bourke, Watch: Studio, Belt: SM Kids Accessories
Ring: Jewel Mint (Gift from Cousin) Bangles (Not in photo): F2M

Necklace: LCC Dept. Store

I've been looking for this lion head pendant necklace since forever. And visiting LCC Mall last Friday made my hunt come to an end. What actually made me feel giddy about this new necklace of mine is that it costs about 1/3 of the price compared to the one's sold online. Yes. I'm not even kidding. So, it was kind of a blessing in disguise that the roads were closed that day. Hahah!

To top it all, I've used my fave DB sling leather bag that I've used several times in this blog for several outfit posts. I actually got this as a hand-me-down from my Mom.

On a writer's note, you don't have to keep up with trends in order to fit in or (to some) to stand out. Whether you're channeling into a 70's queen or even just the basics, as long as you know how to carry yourself then you're good to go. Be thankful for people who appreciates you, to those who don't well, it's their problem not yours. *wink*

That is all for this post. I hope you guys enjoyed it. What do you guys think? I wanna hear from you guys by leaving comment(s) below. Also, don't forget to hype my look here.

Ri-crochet

I am soo happy and proud of myself that I have been actively updating this blog. hhi. Anyway, I'm here to update you guys with another summer post. We went on a biglaan outing for mother's day with my relatives (mother's side). We went to Peñafrancia Resort soo early just to get a cottage for the family. Talk about sleeping for just a few hours since I stayed up late to finish baking and decorating the cupcakes. (Yes. Besides fashion, I also love cooking and baking.)

Top: R.Dept. Store, Shorts: Galaxy Point, Vest: Thrifted, Sunnies The Vaintage Shoppe
and Sandals: CLN

I planned this ensemble long before summer even started and reserved it for a family outing. I thought floral prints matched with a crochet vest is perfect for summer. I love this vest so much that I almost want to pair it with everything. hahaha. Also, the sunnies. ♥_♥ I have been looking for a pair of these for ages but I always end up disappointed since it always gets sold out before I even place an order. But The Vaintage Shoppe came to the rescue. I love it soo much na kahit umuulan na I'm still wearing it. Okay. I kid. Just indoors. (hahah. mas malala). But you guys should agree how adorable these sunnies are. For the look's color pallete, pastel colors are my thing. So, I know you wouldn't be surprised with which colors I paired with.

Let me now leave you with a few pictures me and my siblings' managed to take.

With my sisy Ara.

Another candidate for my photo of the year. Taken with just one click.

Also, we went to church after and accidentally, all of us wore blue. hahah. Soo cute! So we have to take a picture. Thanks to the self-timer feature of our digicam.

We miss you Kuya Jc!

And I also want to share with you guys the cupcakes I made for Mother's Day. (at least, visually.)

Oh yes. Before I wrap up this post I have a joke for you guys.

Me:  Knock, knock.
You: Who's there?
Me:  Ri-crochet
You: Ri-crochet who?
Me:  (singing) I'm bullet proof. Nothing to loose. Fire away, fire away. Ri-crochet take your aim.

*okay that would be enough to embarrass myself.
The title of this post is actually inspired by the song Titanium by David Guetta and my crochet vest. (Obviously)

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Feel free to leave comment(s) below. I really want to hear from you guys and don't forget to hype my look here ;)
