Neutrals

At times when we're not sure with things, we try to think out of the box, just so we could change things up. I have noticed that dress (used as top)+ skirt combo is becoming my staple wear, that's why I decided to go with something different. By doing the reverse.

See the picture above? Don't be fooled. It's not just an ordinary dress, I used it as the bottom for my ensemble. Yep. You read that right. I'm just having a hard time looking for something to pair my crop tops with. Then I remembered Tricia Gosingtian's post about layering a top over a dress. I realized, I never tried  doing it until I came up with this ensemble. It was a special day for my friends who graduated on that day at Ateneo De Naga University. One of my LMFs, Kae, graduated with her second degree and also a Cum Laude. *insert sabog ng confetti here* Congrats Kae! Also, my childhood friends Layka and Kitkat also graduated on that same day, so I've also went to a karaoke grad party that night. Congrats again girls!

Whenever I try new things, I tend to go for neutrals. The basics are always my life-saver. An example is this. I think I pulled this one off because my friends actually thought the top and bottom were separates. I mean, they're really are but they never thought that the bottom was actually a dress. A pat on the back for coming up with this one in less than 10 minutes. I was running late and grabbed my baroque crop top and this striped dress. I've secured it with a belt to prevent the top from moving. Then finished the look with the lace-like necklace in black and gold.

One of the things I noticed when I'm in dress is I could move around freely. Like, everything else is at ease. I still even managed to swing by my Auntie and Popsi's place for a visit. Anyway, I now leave you guys with pictures we were able to take on that day.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.

Gawad 2014

As another school year has ended, a new set of recognition was given to student achievers both academically and non-academically in Unibersidad de Sta. Isabel, during the Gawad Vincentiano 2014. One of the students who was awarded was my sister.

Every time I would grace this event (this is my third time), I would feel very thankful of my sister for making my Mom really proud. You see, I actually felt guilty for taking my grades for granted back in college. But I've come to realize that the purpose of having siblings is to fill-up each others short comings. The things I've learned through the years and after finishing school. And as I supported my sister by being present, it would never be complete without documenting the event and what I wore on the special day. (Cutting the drama short. Haha)

The event was held at the USI auditorium so I grabbed the chance to repeat my peek-a-boo cropped top from Ripples by Jenny. I've paired it with this patterned, pleated skirt that I got as a birthday gift from my Auntie Mila. I admit that I look a bit manang-ish here but I just love how the top matched the skirt so well.

And as my lil brother failed to give blog worthy shots, I will just leave you guys with a few pictures I was able to take during the event.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.

Sunshine-y Yellow

Summer has finally started and I could definitely feel the heat of it as room temperatures hit 34 degrees C. Plus, malls are now updating the new arrivals in time for the season of bright & pastel colors, nautical stripes and floral prints. Although I have worn this ensemble during the college graduation of my Alma mater which was held on the early weeks of March, I have already injected summer trends, namely all the above mentioned. Yes. I have all three fit in the bill. I feel soo proud to tell you guys that this is one of my last minute assembled ensembles.

Now for the details, since the graduation was held at the UNC grounds, I've worn something I'll be able to move around with since I'll also be taking pictures which I failed to do so. This yellow striped top of mine is one of the gifts I have received for my birthday. My Aunt Lina who gave this to me knew I'm a big Forever 21 fan that's why she got me this top that would definitely not go out of style. Classic pieces like this are for keeps. You just have to work on which to pair with which.

Top: Forever 21, Skirt: Tiangge, Bag: Mango
Necklace: Personalized Accessories and Shoes & Belt: The SM Store

For this particular ensemble though my focal point was actually these cutesy floral shoes from The SM Stores's Solemate. Yes. One of the cutest pairs where when you buy two pairs, you'll save a hundred pesos. I got the red one and the blue-ish purple for my sisy Ara. I actually got the red because I haven't got a pair in one, so I grabbed the chance. Although I still wanted to get the other colors.

I knew it would be hard for me to pair it with my wardrobe since red is the least color that I have. Times like this, my improvising skills are tapped. I used primary (yellow and red) and neutral (black and white) colors to pair it with. I failed to include blue though because I don't want to be mistaken as mimicking the the Philippine Flag. I chose to include neutrals so everything would balance out by using this leatherette skater skirt of mine.

As for accessories, I've noticed that I finally grew out my exessorizing hobby. One evidence is by choosing just this acrylic mustache long chain necklace from Personalized Accessories, a watch and this red metal slim belt from SM Kid's accessories to adorn my outfit.

The whole ensemble actually reminded me of a school girl on a summer day. If had them earlier on my college days, I would have worn it at school for one of my summer classes.

As I was their to witness the ceremony of distributing medals and diplomas, listening to speeches delivered and watching the graduates raised their right hand and say their pledges, I still cannot believe I was in that very same place two years ago (minus the location though, ours was held at the UNC Sports Palace, major boohoo!)

I would love to take this opportunity to congratulate the UNC Batch 2014 for another new chapter to begin. I wish each and every one the best of luck for both the job seekers and board exam reviewers.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.
