Floral + Neon

Who knew floral and neon would actually work together? Well, who ever came up with this top of mine prolly knew he/she made a masterpiece. There's no surprise there though. In the crazy of world of fashion full of talented and creative designers, no doubt, anyone could come up with odd combinations and make it work.

I used to shy away from all things bright and odd that gives me weird stares. But as I grew to explore new things I decided that it doesn't matter what others think as long as I made it work for myself, I'll always give it a go.

Some people think keeping up with trends make them standout, but I actually believe that we keep up with trends in order to blend in. From the word "trend" itself, that means known and adopted by many. We could still standout even when trying trends through making it our own. Adding personal touches is what makes people standout. Believe me, in a world with billions of people on earth, there's no one and the same. Even identical twins have differences. Makes sense?

Before this post end up as a novel, let me share to you guys what I've worn last Sunday for a fiesta lunch/get together with my relatives. I know the festivities in Naga is now over but I can't help to feel all festive-y with this post with this ensemble.

If you follow me on twitter (@genbibanne) *Naks! Shameless plug*, I tweeted about Mom giving me this floral + neon top that I got excited. Could you blame me? Just look at it.

Top: Gift from Mom, Shorts: Tiangge, Shoes: Primadonna

I've worn it with neutrals such as a white high-waist pair of shorts and my nude open toe sandals from Primadonna. I kept it simple to give highlight to the top. When it comes to the accessories, I gave a hint of gold to keep things classy.

Bag: Dooney and Bourke, Watch: Studio, Belt: SM Kids Accessories
Ring: Jewel Mint (Gift from Cousin) Bangles (Not in photo): F2M

Necklace: LCC Dept. Store

I've been looking for this lion head pendant necklace since forever. And visiting LCC Mall last Friday made my hunt come to an end. What actually made me feel giddy about this new necklace of mine is that it costs about 1/3 of the price compared to the one's sold online. Yes. I'm not even kidding. So, it was kind of a blessing in disguise that the roads were closed that day. Hahah!

To top it all, I've used my fave DB sling leather bag that I've used several times in this blog for several outfit posts. I actually got this as a hand-me-down from my Mom.

On a writer's note, you don't have to keep up with trends in order to fit in or (to some) to stand out. Whether you're channeling into a 70's queen or even just the basics, as long as you know how to carry yourself then you're good to go. Be thankful for people who appreciates you, to those who don't well, it's their problem not yours. *wink*

That is all for this post. I hope you guys enjoyed it. What do you guys think? I wanna hear from you guys by leaving comment(s) below. Also, don't forget to hype my look here.

Light Bulb Moment

That very morning when I checked my lookbook feed and saw Anastasia Siantar's all white ensemble with a pair of origami skort, I knew then what I would pair with mine.See Anastasia's look here.
Yes. I also have been hooked with the origami skorts fever. Although I'm already months late since I can't decide what to pair it with ( It has been sitting for months already in my closet), I'd like to insert the saying "It's better to be late than never". Good thing I had a light bulb moment a few mornings ago.

Anyway, I've worn this last Friday to accompany my Mom to aid my lil brother for the Military Parade. September is the feast month of the patron saint of Bicol, Nuestra Senora de Penafrancia also called as Ina. And celebrating her feast month is always a bundle of joy here in Naga City. There are so many exciting activities lined up for every ages. And one of these is the Military Parade where different schools all over the region trained under the CAT and ROTC program battle it out through a parade. There are also bands/drum and lyre corps with twirling majorettes that accompany them and adorns almost the main streets of the city with their colorful costumes and music they play who are also included in the competition.
If you follow me on Instagram (Naks! I already have one. Follow me: @genbibandi) I've already posted my peg outfit a day before. I actually drew it and took a picture of it. I was that excited when I came up with this ensemble.

Shirt and Tube top: Thrifted, Skort: Pretty Witty Stuff
Bags and Shoes: Primadonna

One factor I noticed with my inspiration look is that she used the same color to pair with the skort. In my case I chose to use a color in the same family then combined it with my current fave color which is white. I didn't want to copy the whole look so I spiced it up by making the striped button down shirt as a cover up and wore a pretty lace tube top underneath.

Of course, I paired it with my sling bag and nude open toe sandals. I knew we'd be walking a lot since most of the main streets of Naga will be close so I opted for a comfy pair and a worry-free bag. Also, I braided (french braid) my hair after the parade since my hair was already a mess and the Mr. Sunshine was now on full blast.

I was able to take a few pictures during the parade and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the UNC CAT 1 unit for winning the top spot for the Most Disciplined award in Category A and was hailed the Over-all Champion for the said Category. *Thumbs up*

I now leave you guys with a few.

Chestnut

As the brand new month started I have been really giddy since Christmas day is just around the corner and so the countdown goes nearer and nearer. *cue in music* ♫ Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose.

There's no song that beats The Christmas song for me. I've experienced the actual first lyric last year (actually the chestnuts I've experienced were already roasted.haha) which was nice. And so, I name this post with it. It's also the color scheme of my outfit so it's hitting two birds with one stone.

I have worn a ruffled shorts with my printed floral top. Added the patent bow belt and crochet vest with the "blogger" pin for a cutesy effect. *wink* Also, I noticed that I have been overusing my CLN nude sandals so I've invested on a new one from Primadonna. Aren't they the bomb? I've noticed there's a current trend comeback with the open toe cage sandals so I gave in and invested on one. Besides, it's my go-to shoes whenever my toe nails aren't prepped up. Hihi

I've worn this ensemble last weekend when I got reunited with my college besties and USG family. I was pretty upset that day but these people helped me get through it by simply just catching up with them. We had lunch at Molino grill and also celebrated the birthday of the August babies: Jen and KC.

As to with my USG fam we've watched a basketball game because it was Intrams week at school. Another reason why I miss school. Kinda notice I've been missing school for all the wrong reasons. hhi

Anyway, leaving you guys with pictures from our mini get together.
