Weekend: Movie Night

Admit it, when you hear of the word weekend, something inside of you makes you giddy and excited, especially when you work 8 hours or more a day, five or more days a week. I for one, work 8 hours a day and 5 days in a week that's why I am looking forward to weekends.

Weekends could be spent in many ways. Traveling, getting a new hobby, shopping but most of us stay in the comforts of our home. Like our family for instance, We enjoy staying at home. We bake and cook our meals, watch fave anime series, One Piece, we play games online and our favorite of all, we watch movies.

Watching movies has now been very convenient to all of us who wants to stay home and watch new flicks without visiting the cinemas. A big thanks to sites like Pure Flix, we can now catch up with new or old flicks by just staying online. They're currently offering a free, one-month trial of their family-friendly movies service, you can click for more details here.

Movie nights are best enjoyed in different ways. Mine comes in three.

First, I make sure to prepare snacks and it's a no-brainer actually I always grab some popcorn and drinks. Just pop it on the microwave oven and grab some drinks in the fridge and we're all set for our snacks.

Secondly, I make sure we have a comfy couch. Aside from the comfort of the couch alone, I make sure to get some blanket for my husband and my daughter and lots of pillows so we're all extra comfy.

And lastly, some good company. Movie nights are not just meant to kill boredom but also a great bonding time with the family. My husband and I are both movie junkies with different genres but we agreed on taking turns when picking a movie and ending up liking each others choices.

I hope you all enjoyed this short post of mine. Let me know about your movie essentials below.
Don't forget to avail of the one-month free trial of Pure Flix here.

Afternoon Tea

Crazy as it may sound but I enjoy a hot tea even during the hottest afternoon of summer. That's why I was thrilled that there's finally a place to enjoy an afternoon tea, at the Avenue Plaza Hotel. Offered from 2 o'clock in the afternoon to six, tea lovers like me would enjoy an afternoon hanging out with friends, or loved ones sharing three tiers array of pastries. There are three choices offered; Classic, Exquisite and Avenue Signature. We chose Classic since Tazz, Kae, Darel and I both just had our lunch. The classic includes smoked salmon sandwich, clubhouse sandwich, banana chocochip cookie, avenue ensaymada, walnut muffins, blueberry & marble cheesecake, white panna cotta vanilla, chocolate cake and tiramisu. For our tea, we had the Four Red Fruits, now my current favorite.

Top: Koreana Shop, Skirt: Thrifted & Shoes: CLN

Since this was my second visit, I opted for something simple like this sequined top paired with my lilac maxi skirt. You guys know my love for pastel and all things sparkly like sequins. This ensemble goes to show that I love both equally that I even paired them with each other. Anyway, I paired this with my yellow sandals from CLN, yellow slim belt from Tomato and this vintage native sling bag I got from my Aunt. My date for that afternoon was my LMFs and Darel.

Our experience was such a blast just sharing stories while enjoying a nice cup of tea and having bites of absolutely delish pastries. Our tummies were full at the end of the afternoon. I recommend this to group of friends and couples who enjoy tea.

And when you hair just can't handle the wind blowing, high hair bun to the rescue.

I always enjoy an afternoon with this bunch. Also, thanks to our official photographer, Darel, who doesn't mind being with us in the picture.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.

Pre Birthday Part 2

This isn't a continuation of my first pre birthday. It just so happened that I celebrated my birthday early, twice. The first one was with my favorites; Tazz, Kae, Mark and Darel, this time I celebrated with my work buddies. I must say, I feel very happy and loved (except when we bully each other.) every time I'm with this bunch that I spend five days of my week with.

Cupcake goodies from Pasteleria de Perez. Thanks again Ma'am Matet!

Celebrations wouldn't be complete without cakes, or cupcakes in my case. I must say I've just had one of the best tasting cupcakes ever. If you're a big fan of cupcakes like me, you have prolly already heard of the Pasteleria de Perez, one of the newest cupcake stops in the metro.

I'm no expert but as a big fan of food I can say that they have the yummiest red velvet and cheese cupcakes. These two are my fave but they have so much more to offer. Our most recent discovery is the Tutty Fruity cupcakes. Vanilla cupcakes topped with real fruits. They tastes good as they look.

For more info, check out their facebook page here.

My birthday cupcakes made by my boss. Now you guys know what I've meant when I said feeling loved.

Before I insert my ootd on this day, I'd like to share first the pictures with my PTC fam. They are the reason why I love going to work every single day. Because it doesn't feel like work at all, it feels like we're a family helping each other for a certain goal.

With the gang. Love them to bits!

Ariane, Julie, Krys, Ate France and Ma'am Jo

Thanks for this Lloydie!

Blowing out the candles

And now, for the sole purpose of this post. What I wore on this special day of mine. Can you feel the preppy vibe of the outfit? If you haven't then there must be something wrong when I decided to wear this ensemble because that was my peg on that day. Hahha.

Dress used as top: Forever 21, Skirt: Tiangge,
Shoes: Primadonna, Necklace and Belt: The SM Store

This top of mine is actually a dress. I just added this midi skirt to add color. I bought this dress months ago like almost a year already and was just able to use it on this day. I'm having some trouble with my closet because I still have clothes with tags on and glad I was able to minus one from that trouble.

Since I was going to work that day, I've went for the preppy vibe for me to still look presentable. Though I must say that the studs gave me away, I just simply added minimal accessories. Grabbed this cutesy floral lacey necklace in black and gold and used my overused cream belt. Both are from SM Kid's accessories.

Oh how I love that the necklace falls perfectly with the collar which makes it stand out more than the studs. Also, I just folded the sleeves of the dressed used as a top to look more polished and not manang-ish. And of course, the look wouldn't be complete without my nude cage flats. Totes my fave item!

This is one of my major backlogs which explains why I still have a long hair in here. Also, this was the same day of my lil brother's prom. So, me and my sister dropped by to take pictures at school, too.

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.

Pre Birthday

So it's another Saturday afternoon. It wasn't the typical weekend for me where I just stayed at home and watched movies or read a book or make a blog post all day. Some of my closest friends who are based in Manila went home for the weekend and we had coffee and snacks at this dainty place called White Bean.

And I'm back after weeks of being silent. For my birthday last month, I've had two pre-birthday celebrations and this was my first one. I got reunited with my besties (LMF) Tazz and Kae and also two of my fave guy friends, Mark and Darel. I missed having both of them for weekends and when Kae and Mark went home, I grabbed the opportunity to catch up and share yummy foodies from this coffee shop.

I am always in awe whenever I enter this place. That's why I wore something different from my usual style. This is actually my first time to wear something this long on an ordinary day.

Top & Skirt: Thrifted, Vest: Tiangge, Bag: Dooney and Bourke, Shoes: CLN

I always stick to pastels even when I was little in dressing up. It gives this "lakas maka-fresh" feeling , not only to me, but I think also to those who love pastels. I've bought this cutesy skirt from a thrift shop. I have paired it with my lace tube top and covered everything up with this denim-lace vest of my sisy. Also, went for minimal accessories to draw attention to the outfit only, not the bling-blings. I just grabbed my macaroon necklace from Just G., cream belt from The SM Store, and my Skechers watch. I also get to use my DB bucket sling and CLN nude sandals.

I feel oh so pretty the whole time I was wearing this ensemble. Picture moments like crossing the street and people around you turns your way, giving you approving remarks (sort of) maybe well, for my look.

After the merienda we had, we all headed to SM for a few errands. Then, they've surprised me with balloons and a cake that I get to blow out the candles. (Yes. Soo lucky to have friends like them.)

That is all for this post. I hope you guys like it. Don't forget to hype my look here.

J. Cuppacakes: Salted Caramel

I am no cupcake expert but ever since I have been baking I always wanted to be one. And so my love for making them grew. Through tasting different cupcakes from here and there my knowledge widen. My curiosity in the sweet, sweet world of cupcakery (if there's such a term) grew more and more. So, allow me to review a few that I was able to document. Because believe me, when you love cupcakes you'd want to taste every flavor possible within your reach.

My BU trip opened up that possibility for me. As my friends accompanied me at Megamall before I go home that Sunday I wasn't as determined to look for J. Cuppacakes stall since I forgot to take note where exactly was it located. But when we were on our way out to the taxi bay we passed by it. Can you believe it? I was totally meant to bring home cupcakes from them after all. Ever since I heard about them from Myx's Wer U At, I promised to myself that I'd visit one of their stores when I get the chance to. And there was it.

I got myself a box of six delicately beautiful looking cupcakes in different flavors. And they have an adorable box too.

J. Cuppacakes box of 6

L-R (up): Triple C, Bunny Carrot, and Red Velvet
L-R (down): Salted Caramel, S'mores and Green Tea

But lemme just put the spotlight on the Salted Caramel. As I have said J. Cuppacakes was featured in Wer U At and they have mentioned that one of their best sellers is the Salted Caramel. That's why I tried it first.

Spotlight on Salted Caramel

It look soo adorbs. The smooth top frosting looks too sweet but they're actually not. If I am not mistaken the frosting is actually made of cream cheese to my surprise. It also had this caramel flavored popcorn on top  of it which made it soo cute, I tell you. And adds a bit of texture when you have a bite of the cupcake.

You'll prolly wonder if the popcorn on top only resembles the caramel flavor. Na-uhh! This adorable thing is actually filled with caramel inside which gives that satisfying after shock when you have your first bite. You know that mouthwatering feeling? Kind of like that if you know what I mean.

The caramel filling surprise

And the cupcake itself is soo soft and creamy even if I just got it out of the fridge. I know. J.Cuppacakes' should be stored in a room temp. Putting them on the fridge messes up the texture but believe me when I tasted it nothing felt wrong. It was actually perfect for me and for my Aunt too. I learned baking from her and so I shared this cupcake to her as well. She even told me to have this as her pasalubong the next time I go to Mnl. Hahahah.

And there you have it. The mouthwatering, cream cheese topped with caramel popcorn filled with caramel surprise cupcake or for short le Salted Caramel from J. Cuppacakes. And I thought red velvet permanently replaced my love for chocolates. *sigh* If there's a cookie monster, I'd prolly be the cupcake monster. lol

That is all for this post. I hope I didn't make you guys really hungry with this. Please feel free to leave comment(s) below. I'd love to hear from everyone.
